1.
tenets 02:37
In a realm of aphorism Leaning back into my hearth Count the ways a silence falls Millions now, each measured to fit To sit, to slot neatly Into our funereal waste paper basket Amongst barbs and nettles I rest Not quite asleep but bloodied Sufficiently Carve a space out beside me, bed down For the night at least Disinvite the cicadas song and try To steal some sleep
2.
Scratch a freight into stone Before it becomes unknowable A squandered life observing Torpid reminiscence Bring forth gifts to the altar See me worship as my vessel fails My god I feel myself exhale A year of breaths held Like rainclouds or that time of day Between waking and slipping Pregnant with promise unfilled
3.
Harvest a low hanging moon Plucked from an alabaster sky A celestial heart torn asunder From the blackest loam Evoke an absence My stifled essence Returning ache long sown, I reap Behind my consciousness So my gaze rests on yours To better not invoke This incompatibility between Quickened pulse and slacking breath Slaking thirst, encroaching death A single fir bending towards me Back to the crease in the linen sheet Where I lay and squint Too wide to wind the world’s spring
